First time I met Louis Cato may have been 2011 at Bear Creek Music Fest. Snarky Puppy was playing a daytime slot and then-drummer Robert “Sput” Searight had managed to miss his flight to Florida, leaving the band in quite a predicament. Louis quietly volunteered to drum for the set and proceeded to completely TEAR SHIT UP despite having never played the tunes. It was one of the most powerful displays of sheer musicality I had ever seen. Maybe only a few drummers on the planet could pull that off. Louis just also happens to be a world-class bassist/vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist and low brass player, and just an outstanding human being all around. Everyone should go follow @reallouiscato right away and go check his version of this Kool & The Gang classic. I just couldn’t resist putting some Swatty funk down on it! Headphones for Moog bass, duh.
