Benefits: ✨stretches and opens the hips, groin, hamstrings, spine and chest ✨strengthens the abdominal muscles calms the nervous system ✨provides relief to backache ✨eases menstrual discomfort ✨improves digestion Triangle Pose balances the three doshas vata, pitta and kapha. 💨For vata, Triangle Pose grounds and calms the nervous system which pacifies vata imbalances like anxiety and fear. 🔥For pitta, this helps with improper digestion and metabolism which are both functions of pitta dosha in the body. The grounding and calming nature of this asana soothes the sometimes heated emotions connected with pitta. 🌊For kapha, this pose tones the muscles of the body, helping to balance the heavy nature of kapha. Often in my past, I would panic as soon as things started appearing out of control and only a few years ago I learned that was called anxiety. I remember every time I stepped off the bus as a child, my heart would race. I didn’t want to return home. Home wasn’t home for me, home was a prison. Bottled up creativity with papers ruined by tears. I didn’t know I suffered from anxiety when I was a child, and it aches me to know how many other children suffer from that same heart ache from walking home. I suffered, and I hate that I suffered if I am being honest. Can we be honest? Can we be angry? At the same time…can we be happy? I do believe so. I have been working on unlocking my anger towards my childhood instead of the righteous morality we choose to practice in the form of forgiveness which is actually disguised as bypassing and gaslighting our own pain. Our unwillingness to be angry is what causes us to be caught up in rage. I do believe forgiveness happens, but forgiveness must be earned in the realm of processing what happened fully. Radical forgiveness to yourself for holding onto pain, and holding onto stories that defend who abused you or acting out on said trauma….that’s what we should truly forgive. First we must forgive ourself from turning our hearts away from our inner child who just wants to be acknowledged and nurtured. To be seen for the warrior we had to be. To all my child abuse survivors, I see you. I feel you. We are healing together. You are important. Change Your Relationship with Food First __ Many people immediately try and force themselves to eat “diet” foods and “healthy” foods and don’t realize it has nothing to do with the food, and everything to do with how they view food __ Old thoughts about food: Do I deserve it? Have I earned it? How can I make up for it? Did I workout hard enough to eat this” __
New Relationship with food: Am I really hungry? Do I actually want to eat? Does my body need food right now? Will this be satisfying? How will I feel after I eat this food? __ It all starts with your relationship with food. Food is not a reward or a punishment, it is not good or bad. Food is food. Start questioning why you eat what you eat, how you eat, what you feel after you eat something. Are you truly physically hungry or are you just emotionally hungry. Many people are emotionally hungry and try to fill it physically with food __
If you eat emotionally, it is nothing to be ashamed about it, we have all done it at some point. You can break free from emotinal eating, but it all starts with dealing with the emotions that you are holding onto. Journal about, talk to someone, dig deep, really deep. Many times it is subconscious beliefs that have caused us to use food to cope with emotions. __ Start today by asking yourself the new relationship with food questions before you go to eat something
