💖⭐️ THINGS COMPETING TAUGHT ME ⭐️💖 You will be rewarded for playing the long-term game. You can’t trade exercise for food. It’s the fastest way to humble yourself & start at the very beginning, no matter how experienced you think you are. You can tell if you don’t train hard & if you cheat with your diet. Cracks start to show when you try to skip/ignore the process you need & not necessarily want. It taught me to be patient, what sacrifice & being pushed to your limits meant & how to be more open-minded. That quality over quantity matters and for every action, there’s a consequence. That the work on your habits, strategy & environment is what can really set you apart from those just trying to wing it. Competing and following through with the end goal taught me how to finish something, not quit when things get tough and how this translates into your personal & professional life. That excess of anything is dangerous & if it was easy, everyone would do it. It taught me how to better manage my time, stress levels and how to multitask and prioritise my days. Often the biggest lessons needed for growth, results or to progress come from periods of nothing; feeling stuck or unmotivated for months on end. Doesn’t matter how driven you are in areas of your life or how strong you think you are, it’s when you can’t be bothered that your true habits will show through. Proves how gimmicks & quick-fixes are even more laughable once you know what really needs to be done. You end up having to call yourself out on your own excuses, even if it really is unfair or you’re not in ideal situations. Who & what you get frustrated at with feedback or criticism reveals a lot. You learn to clap for yourself and be your biggest fan and that fat loss is actually the easiest part, the building and backend/preparation stuff before the cut is harder!! 🤯Stress can be a challenge. Life stressors can be viewed as a challenge. So your shitty job, terrible boss, this crazy ass pandemic - these are not bad. They are actually great opportunities to rise up and be successful. This is what can be referred to as a growth mindset - where you embrace the challenges. 🤯Stress can also be a problem. It can be overwhelming and be viewed as complete bullshit. You know those days where everything goes wrong, your kids are yelling, you have a flat tire and you left your lunch on the counter.🤦🏼‍♀️ Exhausted and have no band width left to deal. CP FITNESS CORE VALUE  #4 - COMPASSION What is COMPASSION? 📚According to Merium - Webster:    com·​pas·​sion \ kəm-ˈpa-shən  \    : sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it So what does this mean? 🤔 For me personally, there are ways to go about things with an understanding of someone else and their feelings.  🙌Sometimes that means putting the hammer down hard because someone needs to hear something that may be hard.  It doesn’t mean to use harsh words or to be mean, but getting called out can for sure kickstart or bring light to a situation seen from a different angle.  🙌Sometimes compassion means shutting up and listening without saying ANYTHING.  Not a word.  For most of us humans it is hard not to interject our opinions or give advice. Stop and just listen to them.  Hear their words and what they are saying and feeling.   Other times express empathy.   In the case of weight loss and education of food I knew extremely little.  I have been at a point where I felt hopeless and worthless. I have been at a place where I felt I wasn’t wanted.  I have been at a point where I didn’t feel I could do it and I was just going to fail. I have been where I wanted to quit because I didn’t see a point anymore.  I see you. I've been you. I was fine being fat but more importantly unhealthy, I suppose is reality. I dodnt care. My job as a trainer and coach is to hear you, teach you, and let you go. 🦅 🙋‍♀️I want to help you change your situation that is bringing you pain. When someone criticizes or judges us there are always a number of possibilities to consider. . The first thing to consider is, “did it upset you?”
If there was no truth to their criticism, chances are it wouldn’t bother you. . On the other hand, if you have a tendency to immediately dismiss criticism and brush it off, it might be an unconscious defensive mechanism. If everyone else is “crazy” or always “projecting”, at some point you might have to ask yourself if there’s some truth to what they’re saying, or at least a reason why they’ve misinterpreted your words or actions. . Getting to the truth behind our reaction to criticism can be complicated because it’s often hard to see and accept things about ourselves that we don’t like, but it’s necessary if we want to find more peace within ourselves and in our relationships. . Working with a neutral party like a coach or therapist is helpful because they can mirror back the unconscious signals you might be sending to others, or help you identify and accept the parts of yourself that you want to transform. . But one thing that hasn’t changed from then to now is my “why”⁣ ⁣ My fitness journey has been far from perfect:⁣ ⁣ ✨I started knowing absolutely nothing other than being a Track & Field College rat ⁣ ✨I dragged my friends to the gym with me to learn how to lift ⁣ ✨I educated myself on macros and tried IIFYM⁣ ✨I experimented with Intermittent Fasting ⁣ ✨I learned how to build muscle through training heavy & eating in a caloric surplus⁣ ✨I found the value in having a coach/personal trainer ⁣ ✨I learned the nutritious value of different foods⁣ ✨I found out that competing is FKN hard & was toxic for me b/c I’m willing to do whatever it takes.. even ruin my health/hormones ⁣ ✨I went through binge episodes & developed an eating disorder⁣ ✨I started my second reverse to get my mind & body back in alignment ⁣ ⁣ I have been through it all with fitness⁣ ⁣ I’ve climbed mountains & I’ve fallen on my ass so hard I thought that I would never recover. Don’t have the time ⏰to workout? 🛑 I call BS❌ Do you have time to watch Netflix? Scroll through social media? Do you get a lunch break? Do you have to watch your kids? Want to FaceTime/call a friend? If so, you have the time to workout. Sure, it might only be 10-15 minutes but who says a workout has to be an hour long? Who says you have to break a sweat to “workout”? A “workout” can be as simple as going for a walk while you talk to a friend, playing tag with your kids, lifting weights for 15 minutes in your basement, dancing in the living room with your baby to get him/her to stop crying. This may be some #toughlove but sometimes you need it. And yes, some days things may come up that you legitimately don’t have time. But that’s not everyday, and something is better than nothing.

Sooo what happens after the diet?⁣ ⁣⁣ I feel a lot of people seriously underestimate the power of simply⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1 ) Eating less⁣⁣ 2 ) Moving more⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 𝗪𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ You do not need to start on poverty calories, or cut food groups or have insane restriction.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ You do not need to start by smashing out 7 cardio sessions and 6 weight training sessions a week. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you are not stepping on stage - why tf are you taking it to extremes. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Yet, everyone always seems to go balls to the walls from week 1, and how long does that last. I’m guessing not very. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Then you say dieting doesn’t work. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ No, 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ You know that saying “you are what you repeatedly do”⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Well going hard from the get go isn’t helping you actually build habits or a sustainable routine.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Which is why you fall of the wagon and go back to your old ways. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Or you stick it out for a few weeks and then rebound. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ You have no idea what comes after the diet. 👩‍👧‍👧Mum Life take over.. 👩‍👧‍👧 Totes aware I’ve not posted much .. we are currently transitioning this lil Lady from cot to bed 🤯and well I think my brain has now stopped operating to a point where I can put much useful words together.🥴 #reallife . Having a 4 year age gap between the two girls it’s easy to forget this stage and those sleepless night. 😳Tbh I think Aoife-Mae was easy compared to Niamh 🙇🏼‍♀️ . It’s mad how when you are tired how the choices you make with things whilst you think will help actually don’t❌, true to the word quick fixes don’t work in any area of life 🚫the sugar fixes for a pick me up- it’s a lie. the gallons of coffee resulting in not able to sleep when you need to, the quick meals that don’t nourish your body - we have all been there 🙋🏼‍♀️ but often we need to ask ourselves what is it that our body and mind really needs to help us in this situation. . Nourishing the body and mind is what I need. . 💤Ways to help combat this sleep deprivation (let’s be honest I won’t be catching up ) so I look at other ways to give my body some ♥️ . 🍽Nutrition quality - 🌈 colours in my Meals- eating quality food- calories that support my needs. 💦 hydration - so many I speak to don’t drink enough so this is a basic tip. Up your water . . 🌳 Activity - keeping my steps up - fresh air is soooo good to help you feel better and mentally helps me to relax. Plus I know keeping active energises me - we all know that feel good feeling is achieved from getting up and moving. 💃 . 🧠 Relax the mind - take a time out (whether a bath, a drink on your own, read a book ) take it just to sit and gather how you really feel and what you are Truely thinking ) what’s going to help you- so you know? . No crazy, quick fixes for a short feel good feeling waiting for a crash and burn 💥 but an approach that’s helping yourself to feel better physically and mentally.

Many people choose a coach based on how they look. Does this matter? I would say that it does. Is it as important as many people would allow it to influence their decision on who to work with? Probably not. I would argue that a coach's sense of humour and interests can tell you more about whether or not they are the best fit for you comparatively. 🔶 A coach needs to engage with you regularly. You have to get along, and very well at that. In some cases people speak with their coach more than they speak with anybody else. 🔶 It's not your coach's job to be your best friend. They will need to prod at uncomfortable things and they need to both be capable and willing to do that in order to best be able to serve you. 🔶 Those conversations are mentally taxing on a coach and they take further education to learn how to have them appropriately and effectively. Not all coaches do this, and if you just want someone to tell you how to squat that's all well and good, but life has been tough and unpredictable of late, so the more that a coach can support you, the better your outcomes are likely to be. 🔶 You need to gel well enough together that when those conversations happen, the relationship survives in order for you to achieve true change. A relationship that meets all of the above criteria is more likely to occur when you have something in common. A set of abs indicates discipline, but it does not build the trust and rapport needed to cultivate such a relationship. So believe it or not, there is actually more to all the memes, rainbow hair, metal music and geek culture references I put out there. It's fun, but it's also my bat signal to my #StrongUnicorn tribe. Some will connect to it and others not so much, and that's actually a good thing. We are all a bit different and connection and feeling that you belong and are understood is so important in a coaching relationship. --- I have 1 spot remaining for a start of October intake for online coaching.
