After 50 minutes on the ski-erg on the first decently warm day we have had you can’t expect too much for the #postworkoutselfie 😂 . 10 rounds 1000m ski at 5km pace -60 seconds rest between rounds- . Dur dur de trouver la motivation le lundi matin après une mauvaise course 😒 . J avais le rythme dans les spé 1et 2 (à vue ) mais la perte du capteur de chrono dans la spé 3 me fais perdre un temps précieux pour être dans mes objectifs... 🤨 j ai assuré dans la 4 et 5 histoire de prendre le rythme pour le week-end prochain😉 "la non réussite d’un objectif est une extraordinaire opportunité, soyez en conscient " It's hard to find motivation on Monday morning after a bad race 😒. Anyone remember Mortal Kombat?!⁣ ⁣ Something I've been playing with the past month is a workout 'finisher' or MetCon. My strength and conditioning and fitness have improved substantially this year - partially thanks to the lockdown 🙌🏻 - and I find challenging workouts much less strenuous. ⁣ ⁣ This is a good thing. It shows that my body has adapted to increasingly more challenging workouts and also that I'm more resilient to and quicker to recover from the nervous system stress that intense training creates. ⁣ ⁣ For sure I avoid overtraining and I take at least 1 complete recovery day a week. But once or twice a week I like to really push myself and this is where the finisher comes in.⁣ ⁣ Doing something short and intense that revs up your heart rate for a brief period both feels amazing and has unique health benefits compared to only lifting heavy with a very low heart rate or doing long cardio sessions.⁣ ⁣ There are infinite possibilities for a workout finisher and you can make them FUN. ⁣ ⁣ Some of my favourite exercise for the finisher are:⁣ - Hitting a tyre with a sledge hammer or steel mace⁣ - Battle ropes⁣ - Burpees ⁣ - Kettlebell snatches⁣ - Walking lunges with a dumbbell/kettlebell in an overhead position⁣ - Alternating jump lunges⁣ - SkiErg / rowing machine / Assault AirBike ⁣ ⁣ There's no need to overthink this. ⁣ ⁣ Just pick 2-3 intense exercise that are also FUN for you and do as many rounds as you want. ⁣ ⁣ Do it when you feel up for it, don't force it if you've already exhausted yourself with your main workout out.⁣ ⁣ Since this is a finisher, I'd cap it at 10-15 minutes. We're not trying to kill ourselves! ⁣ ⁣ After a kettlebell strength and conditioning workout yesterday I did 3 rounds of:⁣ ⁣ 20 seconds battle ropes⁣ 10 reps kettlebell snatches⁣ 10 reps burpees⁣ ⁣ This was nice and quick and the combination was brutal! ⁣ ⁣ You in?
