Veggie-packed ground turkey spaghetti sauce: I added carrots, onions, shitake mushrooms, and red peppers to the basic Market Basket red sauce. Fitting physical activity into your day doesn't have to be hard. It’s recommend to get ATLEAST 30mins of exercise in per day. If you’re struggling, break it down into 3 - 10mins sessions OR 2 - 15mins sessions. It doesn't need to take hours and a lot of extra time......it might take extra planning though. But, it's worth it and I know you can do it! Remember research states that the weekly recommendation is a minimum of 150 mins moderate exercise or 75 mins of vigorous activity each week – or a combo of both! If you’re new to fitness, create goals that help you gradually build toward the recommended time frame. Are you going to try fitting time in this week to exercise? If no....what’s stopping you?

No need to ovary-react. 😉⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Sorry I’ve been MIA for a while here. I didn’t mean to post a hospital pic in my stories and then ghost! 👻 ⠀ ⠀ 📣 A HUGE ‘Thank You!’ 🤗 to everyone who reached out. It meant so much to me to hear from you all- it lifted my spirits & helped me get through that day in the hospital from hell. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ I’m trying to respond to everyone individually but it’s been a while and I’m starting to get DMs to the tune of “are you alive?” so I figured a post was overdue! 😅 Sorry!⠀ ⠀ ⠀ I mentioned in my stories last Sunday night I’d been having some stomach pain and bloating that it persisted thru Tuesday. Well, it wasn’t stomach pain after all. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Wednesday it got so bad I was looking for a closer Primary Care Physician and then almost passed out from the severe cramping and pain. Childbirth hurts. 36 hours of drug-free childbirth was exhausting. This, was WAY worse. Calling 9-1-1 from my Apple Watch from my floor worse. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ I was probably screaming for 10 min before my Husband heard me screaming from the floor of our bedroom. Whatever noice cancelling headphones my Husband was using for his work meetings are phenomenal- they really work. No, there’s no link for the headphones.⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 🏥 At the ER, saline and morphine brought me back to life. Lots of tests and morphine later they told me they believe I had an ovarian cyst rupture. 💣🤯 Whaaaaa?! ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ I’ve never had an issue in this area of my health. Ever. My recent labs were perfect. My labs THERE were “perfect.” Even after losing blood my hemoglobin was normal.⠀ 👉 Not even my own body makes me bleed my own blood! ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 🏡 I’m recovering at home and trying to distract my self with plants and my plant insta. Avoiding the pain meds but today’s been rough so I think I’ll try to stop being so ‘tough.’ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 👩‍⚕️ I followed up with my Doc and she said functional cysts happen. Sometimes we know about them and sometimes we don’t- the typically body just absorbs it and moves on.⠀ ⠀ ‼️I absolutely never EVER want to go through this again and if there’s anything I can learn & share with you all to potentially help someone else avoid this then I’m all about it!⠀ ⠀ ⠀

Tw I fell into self harm around age 10. Every time he abused me emotionally I would fall back into it. I didn’t know how else to cope. I was so young I didn’t even realize I was battling severe depression and body image issues. When I met my big sister I promised myself I would stop ALL self harm for her. She gave me hope. I relapsed a couple times in the process but I made it out. The last time I have ever hurt myself was around December 7th 2017 around 7:30 PM. I have not self harmed since! As a campaign we connected with another brave family today and it was inspiring to hear yet another story of a mother who won't stop fighting until justice is done and children are safer. Chris another child who should have never had to face many of the issues he did through school, including bullying without intervention, to the point where he felt there was no one in the system who he knew would fight for him. There are those in authority that would have believed that none of the families who's children have suffered, would ever find the strength to stand together and fight. Eventually they're going to find out just how wrong they were. When we get to that point, then they need to simply accept that until this system is changed then we'll not let them rest. Things I have LIKED about lockdown 🌿 Long walks through Elwood in Spring 🌿 Staying inside playing board games and drinking wine through winter 🌿 Fabric bras 🌿 Zoom games with my family 🌿 Being able to look after my friends dog while she becomes a mama 🌿 Unwashed but healthy hair 🌿 More time to focus on passion projects 🌿 Wearing @australian_stitch trackies everyday for 3 months I know gratitudes and gratitude journals are old news, but whatever works hey? I started a gratitude journal a long time ago and it really, really didn't work. Although it wasn't the right tool for me at that time, years later (last year ) I tried it again while starting my new job and found it to be a really beneficial part of my ever evolving self-care routine. Just like anything else worth doing, mental well-being is cumulative and you may not and probably won't feel immediate effects. A good way to distinguish what is working for you is to reflect on when you feel 'good', and explore what things you are doing that are contributing to this that you can harness and intergrate into more of a routine. If you've ever tried something and it didn't work, you can always give it another go later. Self-care strategies can work to varying degrees depending on the context of your mental health and life circumstances. So keep it fresh! Rain

***SUICIDE AWARENESS SERIES*** Yesterday I posted about the need for compassion and shared hadiths on how much emphasis is placed on showing compassion towards others. Today, I’m sharing what the anatomy for compassion looks like. Inspired by Imam Zain-Ul-Abideen’s “Risaltul Huquq” or the “Treatise of Rights,” we can learn how we must be compassionate towards our own bodies and towards that of others. Rights/Justice, as we know, plays a huge role in Islamic practice, and we have been given guidance on how to enact those rights towards ourselves and others. Compassion, I would say would fall into exercising these rights. We have a duty to our bodies and the bodies of others to give them the right to compassion, and each body part has certain rights. We can see that by following these rights we are enjoining In good and compassion in a God-Conscious and God-Centric way. We battle many internal and external desires and systems that inflate those desires. We battle desires of our hearing (e.g. slander ), or desires via our eyes, or desires of our tongue and hands. These desires, when gone unchecked, or when it becomes difficult to keep them in check can lead us to sin. It may be with these body parts that you are putting into plan suicidal ideations. And with these body parts, people carry out their plans. And that hurts. That hurts the person, that hurts the Ummah. We need to be more proactive with our compassion, so that people are not isolated from the compassion and that begins with ourselves too. Compassion towards our bodies is a form of self-care, and compassion towards others is a high form of community-care. PLEASE WATCH SWIPE FOR PT 2**** Now I'm no influencer, and I don't sit Infront of the camera all to often but I wanted to gather some thoughts I've been having recently on flipping the perspective on mental health. We've all suffered with mental health on some level, and I know everyone handles different things at different emotional levels. What may not be severe to me could be catastrophic to others. BUT, I want to talk to those specifically living in the past and are conditioned in a way to spend to much time there. Taking road A and wondering what would've happened on road B is harmful, because truth is you'll never know, ever. BUT what you do have is lessons learned for the next road A&B. The time spent wondering how it could've been better then (that can't be changed ) is time that could be spent used to make tomorrow a better day for your self. Medication is only half the battle and if you truly want to get into a better position trying to change your perspective can help that. We're all worth more than we currently believe we are. Emotional immaturity can be an indicator that your parents experienced a trauma. Trauma and patterns of unconscious abuse energy filtrates through each generation until someone stops the cycle. Emotional immature parents do a great job at taking care of their children's physical + material needs but when it comes to emotional matters, they are oblivious to it. Sometimes they don't know the meaning of love + support, they may believe providing for your materialistic needs is love and a "roof over your head" is good enough. The only thing worse than coming to understand emotional immaturity is realising that it's often excused as culture. As a therapist I see clients exhausted and defeated by this regularly, most adults are desperate for the love of a parent they had the most conflicted relationship with. ⁣⁣ Growing up in a family with emotionally immature parents is a lonely experience. When parents don't make a solid connection with you, you grow up having a gaping hole where true security might have been. When you grow up in this dynamic, the core emptiness remains and can continue into adulthood if you unwittingly choose relationships that can't give you enough emotional connection. When you grow up in this household, it’s scary to place boundaries. There is a part of you that feels disconnected. I know I’ve been there. But it’s important to remember emotional maturity doesn’t come with age. It comes from self-awareness. If you don't have a basic sense of who you are as a person, you can you engage with other people at a deep level. As we try to understand what kind of influence our childhood experiences have on our adult behaviours, the aim is to never be judgemental or to place blame. Our aim is to accept responsibility. I'm here with love telling you this reality, you can't change them. Accept this and acknowledge things are not your fault. Wanting to control their perception & change their behaviour only hurts our inner child because we are desperate to be seen by our parents. See the child-like part of your parents. Know that their lack of support comes from their own wounding & it‘s not personal.

Take a deep breath and give yourself permission to step back from everything that is making you feel anxious. . . One of the best things that has come from knowing myself on a deeper level, is understanding my emotions and anxieties are a result of how I’m spending my energy. Which ultimately means I have control over how to protect my energy and emotions from getting to that run down place. . If there’s anything I’ve learned as an adult it’s that saying no, setting boundaries, and being honest with yourself and others about those boundaries is incredibly hard, but extremely important for your own mental health. . Yesterday I had a heavily anxious day. Knowing that this was from a lack of alone time (introvert 🙃 ) I used all my coping skills to make sure I was handling those emotions and allowing myself some grace to just feel them through. This too shall pass. Today’s a new day. ❤️ Every day may not be good, but there’s something good in every day. . . #mentalhealth #anxiety #selfawareness #grace

I used to be the QUEEN of self deprecation. I would talk down about my goals, poke fun at my own intelligence and looks. It would make me uneasy when someone would compliment me. When they would, I would always feel guilt and disagree. ⁣ ⁣ Then I got into personal development and realized how much harm I was doing to myself, and honestly how rude it was to disagree when someone who was telling me I was beautiful!⁣ ⁣ I am beautiful.
