#flashbackfriday What a CRAZY year my dudes. I literally did a 180° with the lifestyle that I was living. I went from literally barely doing any physical activity outside of work, eating fast food several times a day, and just mentally unwell. Fast forward 365 days and now I workout almost daily, rarely ever eat out, and put my mental health as a priority. When you start to work on bettering yourself, everything else will fall into place. This week also was the 2 year mark of me being in the healthcare field and I was promoted to the Supervisor position of a brand new facility back in May. I honestly don’t think that would of happened if I didn’t alter my lifestyle. The photo on the right was my first weight in and had lost 13 pounds in one week. And as of yesterday I’m 106 pounds down! I always think it’s bullshit when people say “If I can do it, then you can do it.” But y’all lol I SWEAR if I did it, you can do it. Always challenge yourself. Folate has been proven to be particularly important for the development of the nervous system and for preventing neural tube defects (NTDs ) in babies. Spina bifida is one of the most common birth defects. It occurs in the first weeks of pregnancy, when the brain and spinal cord are forming. This is why it is extremely important to ensure you have enough Folate/Folic Acid before conceiving. For some women it is harder to absorb Folic Acid and will need to take Folate instead. There are prenatal vitamins, like Ritual--I take this, that contain Folate. You want to look for at least 400micrograms, though some women will need more, always ask your doctor on recommendations. A great way to ensure you are getting enough Folate naturally, without supplements, is to eat a variety of whole plant based foods. Below is a list of foods that contain good amounts of Folate. Remember this is a B vitamin and is water-soluble and can be destroyed by too much heat. Eat these foods for your Folate: --vegetables (broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, English spinach, green beans, lettuce, mushrooms, parsnip, sweet corn, zucchini ) --fruit (avocado, grapefruit, orange ) --legumes (chickpeas, soy beans, lima beans, red kidney beans, lentils, haricot beans ) --eggs --nuts --juices (many apple and orange juices ) Have you started eating more Folate or taking a supplement to prepare your body for baby? I believe that this empty plate shows this well. 🍽🍽🍽🍽🍽🍽🍽🍽🍽 ❗When we are on a diet, we should only eat a certain amount of food, and if we are not full, we drink water or nibble on carrots. Or we should only eat certain foods. There are also diets that say that you should only eat at certain times. 🥕🧊🥕🧊🥕🧊🥕🧊🥕🧊 ➡️ You can see the consequence in the picture: This artificially creates a feeling of deficiency in the brain and you usually eat your plate empty. After a diet or on cheating days you will do the same. It has become a habit. This will make you fat. Not by allowing you to "eat everything". ⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔ Think about it 😉😘 ✅ I just eat more days of a week healthy food like more oliveoil than butter or more seeds and oats then kellogs stuff 😉 and this became a habbit for me because I feel better 🙏😍. Creamy Tortilla-Less Soup 🤤 Tonight’s dinner was courtesy of @thedefineddish cookbook which is So. Good. I celebrated my BIRTHDAY one week ago today🎈 Everyone jokes about my tendency to claim a birthday month.. but it’s my jam. I fully appreciate another year of life and I like to celebrate it. I took a step back from social media for several weeks and spent more time just BEING. . 🏄🏻‍♀️Paddle boarding at Brainard Lake and Gross Reservoir and getting a sunburn on my 🍑 because as I get older, swimsuits get smaller 🏕Camping, hammocking & hiking in Peaceful Valley 🎹Thrifting a piano for free.99 🤠Dining out and being thoroughly entertained by my husband dressed in the same outfit as the waiters to the point I requested a picture, which ended up looking like a photo of a full country folk music band 💃🏻Having a few friends over to celebrate with Spanish tapas and Sangria and the best damn chocolate cheesecake made from avocados . FRIDAY DAIRY FREE SWAPS ➡️ So we all know I am dairy free by the Instagram name and because I talk about not using milk products a lot! I grew into being lactose intolerant and I don’t miss eating dairy, only sometimes when my boyfriend eats a beautiful looking cheesy pizza lol. I am still on the hunt for a good dairy free cheese, let me know what you guys use! I do like daiya, however I don’t use dairy free cheese as much as I should so I am going to buy some this weekend, I’m craving pizza and chips + cheese ✨ For this week’s dairy free swaps, we have 👉🏻 1. Almond and oat milk replacing 2% milk 2. Daiya shredded cheese replacing Schtark 2% shredded mozzarella 3. Natural Bliss coffee creamer replacing International Delight and Coffee Mate. (coffee mate doesn’t have lactose but has an ingredient derived from milk so I don’t drink ) 4. Good Plants replacing Yoplait yogurt I am going to do more of these, I didn’t want to add too many options because I can’t take too much clutter on pictures lol. Yogurt is also something that is hard for me to find good brands. I am so weird about added sugars in my yogurt! Of course I love for my yogurt to have sugar, just not an excessive amount. One of the reoccurring patterns I see in my clients is this feeling of obligation. We *have* to drag ourselves out of bed to go to work and on our days off we *have* to do laundry, admin, cooking & cleaning... the reason why a feeling of obligation is so dangerous is because it can easily lead to a feeling of resentment. It’s what causes us to be impatient with our family, bicker with friends and feud with colleagues. Step one is naming the emotion; as always. We might realise that we’re struggling to build a solid morning routine because we feel like we’re already living out of constant “obligation” and we actually don’t want to add another “to-do”. We then have to remind ourselves that everything in life is a choice. Everything. Even paying our bills & going to work. Of course there are consequences, however *we* do the weight-up and *we* can choose. When we move into a space of “choice” rather than obligation we already start operating from a space of agency rather than victimhood. Finally as we realise that we “choose” to do everything we do, it’s important to remind ourselves why. Something as easy as listing it out can be enough. What helps is focusing on what the choice *gives us* (positives ) rather than the negative effects of not doing it. Example: Even if I’m not inspired by my job... I choose to go to work daily because it allows me the financial freedom to go on holiday during the summer. It gives me the security to be able to pursue other hobbies, areas of interest, provide for my family, gives me something to work on and a reason for waking up in the morning. (Rather than “I go to work because otherwise my boss would fire me and I’d be broke” ). Leave “obligation” behind. You don’t *have* to do anything. Make choices based on your values and choose them wholeheartedly. Maybe that means saying “no” more, maybe that means being more focused and actually contributing during a meeting, or maybe that means putting your phone away because no, you don’t *need* to reply right now, and yes, you *chose* to go out to dinner with friends. #VScoaching

Anyone else tired of waiting? I had to complete an extensive questionnaire for a program I’m participating in, it took me almost three days to complete because some of the questions just kinda stopped me in my tracks. I’m guilty of not doing enough stillness and sitting my in thoughts, feelings, desires type of work so it always requires more thought to answer those introspective type of questions. I’m a go go go, move move move, decide decide decide type of person. But then I have those moments, when I stop and realize I’ve done a bunch of stuff and made a bunch of decisions, but did those things move me in the desired direction? I reflected on questions in the questionnaire, questions like “what’s the biggest thing holding you back” “what’s the biggest challenge you’re facing in your business” “what would it take for you to be at the highest level of joy in your life?” And I’m going to keep it real... I looked at my answers and thought, Lauren that’s crap! Are you telling me that your well articulated responses that have clear solutions to them are holding you back? Stop waiting, do something about it. The way my life will look 5 years from now is 100% dependent on the decisions and actions that I chose to take TODAY. Small play= small results. No more waiting. Celebrate all of the wins the big and small⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This week I get to celebrate a big win - hitting a new rank (3A ) in my business!
