You need to think what have those muscles been up against all day. How have I helped them or how have I tried to change the behaviour of those suffering muscles through out the day. 💪 9 MONTHS DIFFERENCE 💪 I was debating whether to post this or not as I feel v vulnerable and also because a large part of why I exercise isn't particularly for aesthetics! However I'm so proud of how far I've come so I thought screw it! The photo on the left was taken just after Christmas in Jan, when I wasn't entirely happy with how I looked and had lost a lot of muscle and gained more fat. The photo on the right was the other day with decreased body fat and feeling stronger than ever 💪 Please don't get me wrong, I loved and appreciated my body in BOTH of these pictures but I just wanted to lead a little bit more of a healthier lifestyle and these are the results of doing so. I'm so determined to get even stronger now and build that muscle!! It's also so important to mention that all of this was done with a healthy relationship with food. I didn't cut anything out, still enjoyed the foods I loved and absolutely did not restrict!! Just being more aware of nutrition and the nutritional values of food helped to educate me! Instead of striving perfection, strive for consistency. It’s what you do the most that matters the most. When it comes to consistency, I have three big tips! 1. Remember your why. Why did you start? Why do you want this? Why is this important to you? Having a strong why will support you through it all! 2. Find something you like. Plain and simple... if you don’t like it, you won’t do it. There are hundreds of fitness programs, classes, and styles of training out there! Keep digging and find what makes you feel good! A program should fit you, you shouldn’t have to fit into a program. 3. Drop the “all or nothing” mindset. 95% of diets fail because diet culture teaches us that if we aren’t doing it all, we aren’t doing enough. Your workout routine should reflect all the ebbs and flows that life has to offer! Some days aren’t 100% and that’s okay! If you only have 30% today, give 30%. Our bodies need lighter days. Next month marks one year for me as a practicing Physician Assistant.⠀ ⠀ While I may not be on the very front lines performing life saving surgeries, resuscitating patients with CPR, or whatever else many people may consider “hands on” saving lives, I know one thing is true...⠀ ⠀ I may not always be saving lives, but I ALWAYS have the opportunity to touch the lives of the patients I treat, and I do my best to do that.⠀ ⠀ With every patient that I encounter, I listen to them, I pay attention to what they’re saying and feeling, and I do the best I can to validate their concerns and show them compassion.⠀ ⠀ One thing I’ve learned in the past year is that practicing medicine isn’t always about JUST practicing medicine. It’s about practicing kindness and compassion, patience and understanding, and holding space for others to be heard.⠀ ⠀ And a lot of times.... that’s the only “treatment” these patients actually need. ⠀ ⠀ Be good.
