A new season is here. The final quarter of 2020 is about to begin. I am terrified that we are about to move backwards. That we will be out of the parking garage, and with no government-allowed solution. . Before I got too far down the rabbit hole, I reminded myself of what we did when times were tough, When we had limited resources, and so many external forces telling us no. We figured it out. We did big things, like what is captured in this video (thank you @jessicaboyington for covering all of the good that was done on this day ). . I'm continuing to trust the process here, as I have completed week 2 of cycle 2 for my squat and bench press workouts. After 6 weeks of this program, I've rediscovered my appreciation for the prolonged rest periods. I allow myself 1.5 minutes of rest for the first 3 sets, 2 minutes of rest for sets 4 and 5, and 3 minutes of rest for the final set (reps until failure ). So far, so good! Joints aren't bothering me nearly as much, I'm not super fatigued by the end of the workout, and I've consistently progressed with my strength.

Try adding a little pumpkin spice to your morning coffee to really get you in the fall mood ☕️It’s made with more natural sweeteners versus the refined sugars you’d get with other pumpkin spice syrups! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ingredients for Pumpkin Spice Syrup (makes about 3/4 cup of syrup ) 🔸1/2 cup (80 g ) coconut sugar 🔸1/2 cup (125 mL ) pure maple syrup 🔸1/3 cup (80 mL ) unsweetened pumpkin purée* 🔸1 teaspoon cinnamon 🔸1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg 🔸1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 🔸1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt, or to taste 🔸1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla bean powder or 1 vanilla bean, seeded or 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Add 3-4 teaspoons of the syrup to your espresso! To all of our overhead athletes, try these upper body and overhead plyometric drills to help improve your overall performance. Overhead athletes tend to struggle with having endurance for continuous power output during their performance. Example being, baseball pitchers in the 9th inning and Quarterbacks in the 4th quarter. Due to physical breakdowns and muscle fatigue, their performance tends to decrease throughout the game. You can train these abilities to help improve your endurance and power output. Here is how we progress these drills and our layout of the emphasis. Strength: We train muscles not motions (muscle contractions ) -Eccentric, Isometric, Concentric -Isometric of the various joints (chest, forehead, overhead and from the hip ) Power: -High speed eccentric load to an isometric pause -Raise the threshold: stretch reflex -Unload eccentric for concentric power -Specificity Power: This is the ultimate goal -Stretch Reflex With these movements remember, we are training the muscles not the movements. Doing these drills will help build up your endurance for your strength output, as well as help with injury prevention.
